Terraria Palworld crossover: the pets, items and event

Terraria9 min readVerified on patch 1.4.5.8

The Palworld crossover is the friendlier of Terraria's two 1.4.5 collaborations, and it is the one most people actually finish — because it brought two pets, and pets are what players chase.

What the collaboration added

CategoryWhat is in it
PetsDigtoise and Cattiva, both themed after the Palworld creatures
ItemsA themed set of crossover items and furniture
EventA crossover event with its own rules and rewards

Palworld itself was a breakout hit in early 2024, and the collaboration leaned into its visual language — rounded creatures, bright colours and a slightly absurd tone. Terraria's own art style made the crossover items look out of place in a way that is genuinely charming rather than confusing.

How to unlock it

  1. Update to 1.4.5 or later. The content arrived on every platform simultaneously on 27 January 2026.
  2. Meet the crossover unlock condition in your world — this is what puts the content into circulation.
  3. Farm the set. Once unlocked, the items enter the general loot pool.
The pets are the target, and the event is the route. Event content drops themed loot at a far better rate than passive farming. If you only want Digtoise and Cattiva, run the event repeatedly rather than grinding the overworld.

The two pets

Digtoise

The armoured, turtle-like creature. It is the more distinctive of the two, and it is the one most people want.

Cattiva

The small round cat-creature from Palworld's starter roster. It is described in the collaboration as helping you with the more repetitive chores of gathering wood, which is a nice touch for a game where gathering wood is a genuine early-game chore.

Both are town pets, which means they follow you around, do not need a house, and count towards the crowding limit in your NPCs' happiness calculations. If you keep your residents in tight pods for the solitude bonus, check before bringing a pet into the radius. The NPC housing guide has the exact rules.

The item set

Beyond the pets, the collaboration brings a themed furniture set and a handful of crossover items. The furniture is the part that ends up on your base, and crossover furniture is usually the most characterful thing in Terraria for the same reason the Dead Cells set is worth chasing.

Running the crossover event

The event is where the set actually comes from. Two practical notes:

Is it worth it?

If you…Then
Are a completionistDo it — the set is small and the pets are the draw
Only care about min-maxingSkip it — no crossover item changes a build
Want a distinctive baseDo it — the furniture set is the best part
Version note: the crossover requires 1.4.5 or later. This guide is written against 1.4.5.8 on PC; console, mobile and Switch run 1.4.5.8.1, and the content itself arrived on all of them at once. The version differences page covers what actually differs between builds.

For the other half of the update, see the Dead Cells crossover guide.

How do I get the Digtoise pet in Terraria?
Digtoise comes from the Palworld crossover content. Update to 1.4.5, meet the crossover unlock condition in your world, then farm the themed item pool or run the crossover event until it drops.
What did the Palworld crossover add to Terraria?
Two themed pets — Digtoise and Cattiva — along with a set of crossover items and an event. The pets are the headline of the set because town pets are what people actually chase.
Is the Palworld crossover permanent in Terraria?
Yes. Everything from the collaboration stays in your world permanently, and there is no version of the game without it once you are on 1.4.5 or later.
Do the Palworld pets take up a house slot in Terraria?
No. Town pets follow you and need no housing, but they do count towards the crowding limit your NPCs use when calculating their happiness multipliers.
Is the Palworld crossover available on console and mobile in Terraria?
Yes. It arrived with 1.4.5 on every platform at once on 27 January 2026, so you do not need to wait for the console build to catch up for the content itself.
