Terraria Dead Cells crossover: every item and how to unlock it
Version 1.4.5, released on 27 January 2026, added two crossover collaborations — one with Dead Cells and one with Project Zomboid. The Dead Cells set is the larger of the two, and it is the one that rewards players who collect complete sets rather than optimise a single build.
What the collaboration added
| Category | What is in it |
|---|---|
| Weapons | A themed weapon set modelled on Dead Cells' arsenal |
| Outfits | Vanity outfits usable on any armour set |
| Furniture | A themed furniture set for your house |
| Event | A crossover event with its own rules and reward pool |
The pattern is worth understanding, because it applies to every Terraria crossover: the content enters the normal item pool once unlocked. It is not a vendor selling to you. You farm it.
How to unlock it
- Update to version 1.4.5 or later. PC is on 1.4.5.8, console and mobile on 1.4.5.8.1.
- Meet the unlock condition in your world. This is what puts the collaboration into circulation — it does not happen on day one.
- Farm the set. With the content unlocked, the items appear as drops, in chests and through crafting.
The weapons
The Dead Cells weapons are the part of the set with mechanical value, and a few of them are strong enough to be worth using rather than just collecting.
The design philosophy of the collaboration is Dead Cells' weapons translated into Terraria's rules — fast, melee-heavy, and rewarding of aggression rather than range. That means they sit awkwardly next to standard Terraria weapon archetypes, which is what makes them interesting.
The outfits
The outfits are the reason most players finish the set. They are vanity items — they do not change your stats, and they can be worn over any armour set you own.
That makes them a pure cosmetic choice, which is a legitimate reason to want them, and it means they are worth collecting even if you never use a Dead Cells weapon.
The furniture set
Every crossover in Terraria brings a furniture set, and this is the part that ends up on your base. Crossover furniture is usually the most characterful thing in the game, because it is designed in the crossover's visual language rather than Terraria's.
Is it worth your time?
| If you… | Then |
|---|---|
| Only care about one strong build | Probably skip it — the set is collection-first |
| Enjoy cosmetics and base design | Do it — the outfits and furniture are the appeal |
| Want to complete the 1.4.5 content | Do it, and combine it with the Project Zomboid set in the same session |
The other half of the update is the Project Zomboid crossover, and it has the most charming pet in the game.
