About TriumphGuides
TriumphGuides is a small independent site that publishes practical walkthroughs for survival, sandbox and indie games — the kind of game where preparation decides the run rather than reflexes. We currently cover Terraria, with more games in production.
The site exists because most game guides on the internet are written twice: once by a player who worked something out, and again by a generator that rewrote the first one into filler. The second version is what ends up ranking, and it is why so many search results read like a wiki dump with the useful part removed. We work the other way round — we play the route, write down what actually happened, and only then publish.
How a guide gets made
- Someone hits a wall. Usually a specific question: "how do I get X" or "why does this boss kill me every time". If the question is specific enough to hurt, it is specific enough to be worth a page.
- We play it. On a fresh character where the situation can be reproduced. Notes are taken during the run — exact drop rates, how many attempts it took, what went wrong.
- We write the answer first. The first paragraph of every page is the conclusion. The route, the reasoning and the alternatives come after, so you can start playing without scrolling.
- We stamp the patch. Every page records the game version it was last verified against, because a guide that silently refers to a removed item is worse than no guide.
What we will not do
- No paywall, ever. Some publishers explicitly forbid locking game guides behind a subscription. More importantly, a guide you cannot read is not a guide. Every page here stays free.
- No AI-generated filler. Outlines and research are fine; unedited generated text is not. If a page contains something a generated summary could have produced, it should not exist.
- No official art or assets. We use our own screenshots and our own words. Game names and logos belong to their respective publishers.
- No guessing presented as fact. Where a drop rate or a recipe is uncertain, the page says so.
How often pages get checked
Reference tables such as the accessory list are reviewed every month, or immediately when a patch lands. Progression guides are reviewed every three months. Anything older than a full game version is flagged in the header rather than quietly left in place.
How the site is funded
TriumphGuides is funded by advertising. That means we have a financial incentive to publish a lot of pages, which is exactly the pressure that produces the low-quality guides we are trying to avoid. Our answer is to be selective: we publish a guide only when we can say something the existing top results do not say, and we keep the total page count low enough that we can maintain what we publish.
Some outbound links may be affiliate links, which means we may earn a small commission if you buy something we recommended. It never affects which product we recommend or what we say about it, and it never costs you anything extra.
Corrections
Game data changes and we get things wrong. If you find an error — a wrong material, an outdated drop rate, a route that no longer works — tell us. Corrections are applied faster than new pages are written, and we will credit the fix publicly if you want.
