Terraria 1.4.5 new items: the full list and where to find them
Version 1.4.5 added more than 650 new items, taking Terraria past 6,000 items in total, along with close to 900 bug fixes. Then, seven months later, the 1.4.5.7 hotfix added a very large number of items in a patch release — a "massive item dump", as the coverage described it.
If you are hunting for the newest content, the hotfix items are the interesting part, because they are exactly the items wikis have not caught up with yet.
What shipped in 1.4.5
| Category | What came with it |
|---|---|
| Total new items | 650+, taking the total past 6,000 |
| Bug fixes | Close to 900 |
| Whips | Nine new summoner weapons |
| Boulders | Five new boulder types, matching the update's name |
| Transformation mounts | Four, letting you become a bat, a mouse and more |
| Furniture sets | Fifteen new sets |
| Crossovers | Two — Palworld and Dead Cells |
| World seeds | A new seed menu, and secret seeds that can be combined and stacked |
| Quality of life | A searchable crafting window and a boss damage tracker |
| Shimmer | New transmutations, including a Zenith to True Copper Shortsword path |
The update also reworked a few things that changed how the game plays rather than what it contains: town NPCs can now arrive without a spare house, boss fights got Skyblock-aware conditional drops, and the world creation menu was rebuilt around the new seed system.
The 1.4.5.7 hotfix is the interesting part
| Date | What happened |
|---|---|
| 2026-01-27 | 1.4.5 "Bigger & Boulder" released on all platforms |
| 2026-08-19 | PC moved onto 1.4.5.7 — the large hotfix |
| After 1.4.5.7 | Further hotfixes, arriving as 1.4.5.8 (current PC build) |
The 1.4.5.7 hotfix was unusually large. Coverage described it as a "massive item dump" — a great many new items slipped into what should have been a small patch. It also retouched the Zenith's sword sprites and settled the Shimmer transmutations, including the Zenith to True Copper Shortsword path, into their final form.
Where new items actually appear
| Source | What you get |
|---|---|
| Normal enemy drops | The bulk of the new weapons and materials |
| The four pillars | Astral weapons, including the Terraprisma |
| The Stardust pillar | The new stardust whips, including the Kaleidoscope |
| Crossover content | Two themed sets and their events |
| Shimmer | Transmutations, including the True Copper Shortsword |
| Chests | Furniture sets and rare drops |
Why the hotfix items are the best opportunity
Three reasons stack up:
- Demand exists — players search by item name the moment they see it in game.
- Coverage is thin — wikis lag on hotfix content by months.
- The intent is obvious — "how do I get X" is the highest-conversion search phrasing in gaming.
That third point is the general lesson for a guide site: the specific-item query is the easiest search to win, and new content is where the supply of unwritten guides is highest.
If you want the complete set efficiently
- Use Journey Mode if you can. Research an item once, then duplicate it. That is the whole shortcut.
- Farm the pillars window, because it converts into astral power and drops the astral weapons.
- Do the crossover events, which have a better themed drop rate than passive farming.
- Do not chase furniture on the same run as weapons — furniture drops slower and needs its own session.
