Terraria accessory farming calculator: plan one route instead of ten
Most Terraria accessory grinding fails on logistics, not on effort. You need five accessories, they come from five different places, and you farm them one at a time until a week disappears. This calculator turns that into a single route.
How to use it
- Tick the accessories you actually want. The list is grouped by where they come from.
- Read the route summary. It groups your picks by location so you can do them in one pass.
- Check the station list. Anything needing the Tinker's Workshop has to be combined, not just crafted.
Why grouping by location beats farming one item at a time
This is the whole idea behind the tool above, and it is worth internalising even if you never use the calculator.
| Approach | Trips | Result |
|---|---|---|
| One item at a time | 5 separate trips, 5 different biomes | You redo the same travel five times |
| Grouped by location | 3–4 trips, each covering a whole area | You cover ground once and collect everything there |
The difference is often two hours, and it is completely free — it just requires knowing which accessories share a source before you start.
The three costs people forget
1. The combining station. Terraspark Boots, the Shiny Red Balloon combinations and most upgraded accessories need the Tinker's Workshop, which means the Goblin Tinkerer has to be housed. That is a whole NPC-housing detour before you can make the thing you were farming for.
2. The biome itself. Some sources are only reachable after a specific progression step. The Underworld needs the Wall of Flesh down; the Lunar pillars need the Moon Lord.
3. Reforging, if you are chasing modifiers. Reforging is roughly a third of an item's value per roll, and it averages about fifty rolls. For a cheap accessory, farming a fresh one is faster. For an expensive one you already own, reforging is cheaper.
A sensible farming order for most players
| Pass | What you collect | Where |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Movement and survival accessories | Snow biome, Cavern, Underworld |
| 2 | The damage accessories you will actually use | Surface chests, dungeon |
| 3 | Combining everything at the Workshop | Tinker's Workshop |
| 4 | Reforging to the right modifier | Goblin Tinkerer |
Doing it in that order means you make each item only once, and you reforge only after the set is complete — which is when you can tell whether you need Menacing or Warding.
When to stop
The best accessory you own is the one you stop farming for. If you have a Celestial Shell, an Ankh Shield and two class pieces at the right modifier, you are done — further accessories are a rounding error. The best accessories guide has the full tier list with the stop line for each stage.
